The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 traffic impact report for this week includes Ky. 90 between Glasgow and Cave City.

“A project to enhance safety and efficiency along a 9-mile section of the KY 90 Happy Valley Road corridor in Barren County continues,” a press release states. “The limits of the project are between Sanders Street (mile point 0.2) and U.S. 68 Veterans Outer Loop (mile point 8.5). The project adds alternating passing lanes and new turn lanes at different points along the corridor. Drainage improvement work, guardrail work, shoulder improvements, passing lane extensions and vegetation trimming are also included in spots along the route. The project is expected to be completed later this year.”

The work along that stretch of road in Barren County will continue to affect traffic flows. Expect delays in the area.

Below are some other areas where roadwork will be ongoing this week.

Metcalfe County
U.S. 68 (from near KY 729 to KY 745) – A project to improve safety and mobility along a section of U.S. 68 in Green and Metcalfe Counties continues. The project will realign U.S. 68 from near KY 729 in Green County to KY 745 in Metcalfe County. The 1.2 miles of new alignment will feature 11-foot travel lanes with 4-foot paved shoulders. The new alignment is designed to reduce curvature and grade variations and will include construction of a new bridge over Caney Fork Creek. Motorists should use caution in this area.

U.S. 68 (at the intersection with KY 70) – An intersection safety improvement project continues on U.S. 68 in Metcalfe County. The intersection of U.S. 68 and KY 70 will be reconstructed to a new alignment just to the east of the current intersection. Motorists should use caution in this area.

Warren County
U.S. 31-W (mile points 20.9 to 22.5) – The project to widen U.S. 31-W in northern Warren County continues. The project widens U.S. 31-W from U.S. 68 to Mizpah Road. The project is entering its final phase as final paving has started.

KY 185 – Traffic has been switched to the new alignment in the section between Runner Road and near KY 1320. The project is not complete and workers will still be in the area until later this summer. The HSIP section of the project is from KY 1320 to near Jack Simmons Road, 1.26 miles in length. Drainage improvements and ditching will be a part of this project.

U.S. 31-W (from KY 234 to Park Street) – A project to widen the U.S. 31-W Bypass to five lanes from KY 234 to Park Street in northern Bowling Green continues. A long-term construction zone has been set up, narrowing traffic to one lane in each direction with a center turn lane. This is for the construction zone only. The project is expected to be completed sometime in 2027. Delays and traffic queues should be expected
