Barren County slugged Allen County-Scottisville, 10-1, Tuesday night to win the 15th District Baseball Tournament title.
The Trojans blew open the game with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning en route to winning their second-consecutive district tournament championship, and third in four years.
In the sixth, Cameron Crawford led off with a single. Kolton Esters to run for the pitcher, and moved to second on a single by Dylan Poynter. Skylar Potter drew a walk to load the bases.
Price Thompson followed and drew a walk, and Esters scored. Landon Uhles followed that, drilled a double, and drove in Poynter and Potter. Mason Mabrey, who entered to run for Thompson, moved to third on the hit.
Jax Vincent drove followed with a double and drove in Mabry and Uhles to push the Trojans’ lead to 8-1.
Vincent scored next on a double by Colten Wilson.Then, after a couple of outs, Crawford came back to the plate and drove in Wilson with a single to set the final score of the game.
Crawford went the distance on the mound. He allowed six hits, struck out three and walked one.
Wilson led the Trojans at the plate with three hits, while Vincent, Crawford, and Poynter each posted two hits, and Thompson and Uhles each finished with a hit.
Barren County plays in the Fourth Region Baseball Tournament beginning Monday. The bracket for that tournament will be set Thursday morning.
