A day after pitching 10 innings, Shea Bogue returned to the circle Tuesday and posted another solid outing. Barren County beat Warren East, 4-2, to win the 15th District Softball Tournament and Bogue allowed four hits, struck out three and walked none.

The Trojanettes won the district title for third time in four years and avenged their loss to the Lady Raiders last season in the championship.

Barren took the lead for good in the bottom of the first inning Tuesday. Josey Moore hit a one-out double, then Norah Shirley followed by drawing a walk.

Audrey Jones drove in Moore with a double, and Shirley moved to third on the hit. Shirley scored on a fielder’s choice ball hit by Bogue.

The Trojanettes pushed their lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the second inning when Miley Kaumanns, running for Khloe Westmoreland, scored on a sacrifice fly by Kyra Moore.

Barren added its final run in the bottom of the third inning. Josey Moore led off with a single, and scored on a double by Shirley.

From there, Bogue and the defense held off any rally from the Lady Raiders.

Josey Moore led Barren at the plate with three hits, while Shirley, Jones, Bogue, Westmoreland and Hadley Elkins each also posted a hit.

Barren County plays in the Fourth Region Softball Tournament that begins Monday at Western Kentucky University. The draw for the tournament is Thursday morning.
