A Fountain Run man is facing multiple theft and drug-related charges after a vehicle was stolen from a local business and later recovered with the help of neighboring agencies.
On April 27, 2026, officers with the Glasgow Police Department arrested 18-year-old Aiden Matthew Birdwell of Fountain Run on burglary and theft charges, according to a police department press release.
The arrest followed a report of a stolen vehicle from MCS Lawncare on South Lewis Street in Glasgow. Officers responded to the business on Sunday after the vehicle was reported stolen.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies located the stolen vehicle early Monday morning. Deputies with the Barren County Sheriff’s office and Kentucky State Police Trooper Phillips then found Birdwell inside a residence. He was transported back to the Glasgow Police Department, according to the press release.
Birdwell is charged with third-degree theft by unlawful taking of an automobile valued between $10,000 and $1 million. He is also charged with first-degree criminal mischief, no operator’s license, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officer Micah Janes was the arresting officer.
Birdwell has an initial court appearance set for Monday at 12:30 p.m., according to the Barren County Detention Center website. No bond was set as of the latest update.
