Glasgow struck first, but Barren County struck more Tuesday in a 15th District softball showdown. In the end, the Trojanettes improved to 2-1 in district action with an 8-2 home win. The Lady Scotties fell to 0-3 in district games.

Glasgow took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when NaTaya Lightfoot was driven in by a ground out by Ayvah Maxey. Lightfoot hit a one-out single to get on base. She moved to third on a double by Reece England before scoring the run.

Barren finally found a run in the bottom of the third when Hadley Elkins led off with a solo home run to center field. After an out, Kyra Moore singled, and she later scored on a triple by Josey Moore. That set the Trojanettes ahead 2-1 and they did not trail again in the game.

Barren added a run in the bottom of the fourth when Elkins drove in Addie Wheeler with a triple. Wheeler had reached base with a one-out single.

In the top of the fifth, Kerrigan Hagan closed the gap to 3-2 with a two-out, solo homer.

The Trojanettes took control of the game with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Kyra Moore drew a lead-off walk, then Josey Moore drew a one-out walk. Norah Shirley followed with a single that loaded the bases.

During Shea Bogue’s at-bat, Kyra Moore scored on a passed ball, then Bogue drove in Josey Moore with a single. Shirley later scored on a single by Khloe Westmoreland that set Barren ahead, 6-2.

Barren added its final two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Bogue got the win in the circle. She allowed five hits, struck out five and walked two in seven innings.

Maxey suffered the loss for Glasgow. She allowed 11 hits, struck out one and walked two in six innings. Barren did not have to bat in the bottom of the seventh.

Elkins, Bogue, Shirley and Lily Elmore each posted two hits for the Trojanettes, while Josey Moore, Kyra Moore and Wheeler each had a hit.

Hagan, Lightfoot, Jakylie Green, Reece England and Gracie Walker each had a hit for the Lady Scotties.

Barren returns to action Thursday with another 15th District game, this time at Allen County-Scottsville. The Trojanettes lost the first meeting between the teams, 12-5.

Glasgow plays at Campbellsville on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. central time.
