Shea Bogue pitched a gem Monday as Barren County blanked Bowling Green, 3-0.
Bogue allowed one hit, struck out four, and walked none. What balls the Lady Purples did hit were forced outs. Bowling Green hit into 11 ground outs in the game.
The Trojanettes scored two of their three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Adley Cunningham drew a walk to lead off. Alexis Cannon entered to run for her before Audrey Jones bunted. Cannon moved to third on the play and Jones reached first safely on an error.
Lily Elmore followed with an attempted sacrifice bunt, but she reached safely on an error and reached second. Cannon scored on bunt, and Jones scored on the error.
From there Bogue her defense forced the Lady Purples to go 3-up, 3-down in back-to-back innings.
Elmore led Barren at the plate with two of her team’s three hits. Khloe Westmoreland had the team’s other hit.
The Trojanettes return to action Tuesday at home against Glasgow at 5 p.m. It’s a 15th District showdown.
