Barren County won Game 1 of its two-day 15th District showdown with Warren East. The Trojans scored three runs in the third inning en route to a 4-1 victory.
Barren fell behind 1-0, but rallied in the top of the third. Andrew Neville led off and reached base on a catcher’s interference call. He moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Kolton Esters, and to third on a single by Jax Vincent.
Colten Wilson drove in Neville with a single, and Vincent scored on an error that also allowed Wilson to move to second. Jaxon Pierce moved Wilson to third with a single. Gavin Coffey drove in Wilson with a ground out to shortstop.
The Trojans added their final run in the top of the fifth. Vincent led off with a single. He raced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Wilson to third base. Vincent scored on a sacrifice fly by Pierce.
Skylar Potter pitched the distance on the mound. He allowed four hits, walked two and struck out eight.
Vincent and Coffey each posted two hits, while Wilson and Pierce each had a hit.
The Trojans improved to 10-9 overall and 1-0 in district. These teams play again Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Barren County.
