Glasgow scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning Tuesday to take control of its 8-4 softball win at Edmonson County.
The Lady Scotties entered to inning trailing the Lady Wildcats, 3-2. Jakylie Green led off by drawing a walk. She moved to third on a single by Paige De Haas. Raygan Wyatt entered to run for De Haas.
After an out, Kinley Stephens drove in Green with a bunt single. Wyatt moved to third on the hit. Reece England followed with a single that scored Stephens. Wyatt had been thrown out at home during England’s at-bat. Stephens’s run gave Glasgow a 4-3 lead.
Ayvah Maxey drew a two-out walk, which put runners at the corners after England had taken third on a passed ball. Gracie Walker drove in both Maxey and England with a double. She later scored on a single by Kerrigan Hagan, which put the Lady Scotties ahead, 7-3.
Green added Glasgow’s final run with a solo homer to lead off the top of the seventh inning.
Maxey went the distance in the circle. She allowed 10 hits, struck out four and walked five.
De Haas and Hagan each posted two hits at the plate, while Green had the home run, and Kayla Kirkpatrick, Stephens, England and Walker each posted a hit in the game.
The Lady Scotties improved to 4-5 overall. They are back in action Thursday at Warren East in a 5:30 p.m. 15th District contest.
