RECAP: Trojans blast Blazers, 15-0

Barren County played inhospitable host Monday in its first game back in Kentucky. The Trojans pummeled Bluegrass Blazers, 15-0, to improve to 9-7 overall.

Wyatt Walker led the way at the plate with a home run, while Cameron Crawford, Colten Wilson, Jax Vincent and Skylar Potter each slapped doubles.

The Trojans posted nine total hits in the game and also drew nine walks. They only struck out once and stole 11 bases.

Barren took control early by posting 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Vincent led off with a single, then stole his way to third before scoring during Jaxon Pierce’s at-bat.

Gavin Coffey drew a walk, and later scored on Crawford’s double. Crawford scored during Price Thompson’s at-bat on a passed ball. Thompson drew a walk, and moved to third on Potter’s double.

Thompson scored on a passed ball during Wilson’s at-bat. Wilson eventually drew a walk to put runners at first and third. Potter scored from third on an error by the catcher, then Cash McGuire was hit by a pitch.

Jordan Harris drove in Wilson with a single, and McGuire moved to third. Vincent’s double drove in McGuire and Harris. Vincent eventually scored during Pierce’s second at-bat of the inning after he stole third.

Pierce and Coffery drew back-to-back walks, and Pierce later scored on a sacrifice fly by Crawford.

The game ended in the bottom of the fourth on the 15-run rule. Eighteen different Trojans batted in the game.

Dylan Poynter and Joseph Zelek combined to allow one hit. They struck out six and walked two.

The Trojans return to action Tuesday at Taylor County at 5:30 p.m. central time.
