Glasgow City Council to consider rezonings, city clerk appointment Monday

The Glasgow City Council will meet Monday, April 13, with multiple zoning changes, personnel moves and police policy updates on the agenda.

A presentation from Guy Howie will highlight the evening’s opening business, offering an update from the Glasgow Police Department.

Two rezoning ordinances headline old business, both expected to receive further consideration. One measure would rezone properties at 105 and 107 Hillcrest Street and 418 West Front Street — totaling just under a quarter acre — from light industrial to small lot medium density residential. A second ordinance proposes rezoning approximately 2.5 acres at 150 Childress Road from low density residential to medium density multi-family residential.

Under new business, council members will consider a municipal order appointing Sarah Young to the position of city clerk, a non-elected role. Another order would formally separate the responsibilities of Stormwater Program Manager and Grant Oversight Manager into distinct positions.

Several executive orders signed by Mayor Henry Royse will also be entered into the record for notification purposes. Among them is an order establishing procedures for hiring and compensating lateral police officers, along with a series of updates to Glasgow Police Department standard operating procedures. These updates cover areas such as fire safety response, weapons security, evidence management, alert systems including Amber and Golden Alerts, OSHA-related policies, safety equipment, patrol operations and the use of law enforcement canines.

The council’s next regular meeting is set for April 27 at 6 p.m.
