A groundbreaking of the new Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College health campus is less than three weeks away.
The ceremony is scheduled for April 30 from 3 to 4 p.m., according to information provided by Barren Inc.
As previously reported, the college purchased 42 acres in Glasgow for approximately $2.3 million using the $28 million appropriated for capital construction projects in 2024 by the Kentucky General Assembly. The purchased property is located on the Veterans Outer Loop, near Donnelley Drive and Bob Lewis Road.
A “Future Home of the Glasgow Health Campus” sign is in front of the “blank slate” property.
The new facility will help the college expand its health care training programs, according to Angie Harlan, dean of nursing.
The current campus on State Avenue “is no longer suitable for providing the modern education and training required to meet the Commonwealth’s growing workforce needs,” a college release stated. However, because the project is still in the early stages, decisions about its future after construction has not been determined, according to Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Communications Rebecca Lee.
