Barren County walked off a 1-0, extra-inning win over Great Crossing on Wednesday in Florida. The Trojans and the Warhawks battled through seven scoreless regulation innings before Bracy Faught scored in the bottom of the eighth to win the game for Barren.
Price Thompson started on second base due to the extra-innings rule. Faught entered to run for him. Cameron Crawford sacrificed Faught to third. He scored on a sacrifice fly by Colten Wilson.
In the top of the eighth, Great Crossing also had a runner start on second. He moved to third on a sacrifice bunt, but Skylar Potter forced back-to-back fly outs to end the threat.
Potter pitched all eight innings. He allowed only two hits, struck out six, and walked one. Despite pitching all eight innings, Potter threw only 88 total pitches because 60 of them were in the strike zone.
Jax Vincent and Cash McGuire had the only two hits for the Trojans in the game. They were both doubles.
Barren (7-6) returns to action Friday with a pair of games in Florida against Montgomery County and Henry County.
