Glasgow high FCCLA earns top honors at Ky annual conference

Glasgow High School’s Family, Career and Community Leaders of America chapter is celebrating a strong showing at the eighty-first annual Kentucky FCCLA State Leadership Conference.

Chapter members participated in leadership development sessions, service projects and competitive events designed to highlight their skills in career and technical education pathways, according to a chapter press release. Glasgow FCCLA was recognized for overall excellence as a Bronze Honor Roll Chapter and was also acknowledged as a National Program Award Participant.

Several students also received notable individual honors. Xander Contreras and Zoey Johns were recognized as recipients of the Agnes Foster Golden Horizon Award, which highlights outstanding leadership and commitment to FCCLA. Glasgow students competed in STAR, or Students Taking Action with Recognition events, earning gold and silver ratings across multiple categories. Results included a gold rating and second place for Ashelynne Graves in Career Investigation, Level 2; a gold rating and second place for Zoey Johns in Culinary Arts, Level 3; a gold rating and second place for the team of LaDeja Driver and Audrey Burchett in Nutrition and Wellness, Level 3; and a gold rating and second place for JamesAnna Soto in Job Interview, Level 3. Brooklyn Morgan earned a silver rating and third place in Teach and Train, Level 3. Silver ratings also went to the team of Brilee Pitcock, Gracie Bale and Angelina Goulbourne in Sports Nutrition, Level 2; the team of Addy Glass, Polina Hayes and Anahlei Wood in Focus on Children, Level 3; and to Xander Contreras in Baking and Pastry, Level 3.

In addition to STAR events, Glasgow High students entered challenge competitions and picked up several top placements. Noelle Grieshop took first place in the Culinary Math Challenge, while Korah Grace Jones earned first place in the Hospitality Services Challenge.

Third-place finishes went to Grayson Highbaugh in the Culinary Math Challenge, Olivia Rosser in the Nutrition and Wellness for Life Challenge, and Molly Ogden in the Teaching Challenge.

“The Glasgow FCCLA chapter looks forward to building on this success and continuing to empower students through leadership and career development opportunities in the coming year,” the release stated.
