Barren County residents are invited to help shape possible renovations to the community’s public library.
Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library will host a moderated, informal public forum April 30 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room near the front entrance. The session is open to all community members.
“We’re looking at some potential renovation, and so we just want to get some community input on that,” said Ami Sandell, library director. “We’re not sure exactly what [those are] yet. That’s what the forum will help us decide. We do know that there is need for additional meeting space. That’s a big thing, but…we want to make sure we get plenty of community input before we make any kind of decisions.”
“We just want people to come in and share their thoughts with us,” she added.
The forum is part of a feasibility study focused on determining what is needed at the library and what options might be available, Sandell told Glasgow News 1, adding that the process is in the very early stages, with no commitments made on design or funding.
Once the library has a clearer picture of community priorities, Sandell said recommendations will go to the library board, which would then consider potential funding sources and next steps.
