Barren students win awards at junior state Beta

Several students within the Barren County school district took home awards at the recent junior Beta state convention.

Barren County Middle School’s Lily Key was elected as Kentucky Junior Beta President.

Hiseville Elementary’s Carrigan Childress took first place in Color Photography and Eastern Elementary’s Lydia Perkins won first place in Quilling.

Park City Elementary’s Lillyan Richardson placed second in Digital Art.

The middle school finished in third place in Performing Arts Large Group and Campaign Skit, and had the following individual third place awards: Maddie Bush and Paisley Ray in Digital Portfolio; Colton Hall, 8th grade Health and Physical Education; Kipper Todd, 7th Grade Science; Lana Martin, 7th Grade Spelling; Aubrey Blythe, Sculpture; and Aubrey Pate, Apparel Design.

Micah Lucas was also named a Premier Performer in the Singer category.

Red Cross Elementary’s Pailynn Dial won third place in Black and White Photography.

North Jackson Elementary won fifth place in Performing Arts Small Group, Henry Huddleston placed third in Digitally Enhanced Photography, and Michael Dean Steenbergen took fifth place in 6th Grade Science. Emily Costello was named a Premier Performer in the Singer category and Lilly Sherfey was named a Premier Performer in the Dancer category.
