Ayvah Maxey dominated from the circle in Glasgow’s 12-0 win over Metcalfe County on Tuesday. The eighth-grade pitcher struck out nine and allowed only three hits. She also walked none.
The Lady Scotties broke open the game in the top of the second inning with a four-run rally.
NaTaya Lightfoot was hit by a pitch to lead off. She moved to second when Kinley Stephens drew a walk. Lightfoot scored when Kenleigh Bale put a ball in play and reached base safely on an error.
Reece England followed, drew a walk and loaded the bases. Grace Walker drove in Stephens with a sacrifice fly, then Bale scored on a passed ball.
England later scored with two outs on a ball hit by Kayla Kirkpatrick.
Glasgow added three more runs in the top of the third, then posted three more in the top of the sixth. Kirkpatrick led off that inning with an in-the-park home run.
The Lady Scotties posted eight hits in the win. Bale and England each had two hits, while Walker, Kirkpatrick, Jakylie Green and Paige De Haas each posted a hit. Walker and England each slapped doubles, while Green nailed a triple.
