Nina McMurtrey and Katie Murphy are two of the 101 WKU student-athletes who received a Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal in 2025, the conference announced on Friday.
McMurtrey is a senior women’s golfer at Western Kentucky University who graduated from Glasgow High School in 2022. Murphy is a sophomore softball player at WKU who graduated from Barren County High School in 2024.
The 101 CUSA Commissioner’s Academic Medal recipients are a record for WKU Athletics, surpassing the previous record of 86 received by WKU student-athletes in 2024.
To receive the Commissioner’s Academic Medal, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 or better.
