It took an extra inning, but Barren County collected a solid road win Monday night in Burkesville.
The Trojanettes scored two runs in the top of the eighth, then held on in the bottom of the inning to beat Cumberland County, 4-3.
With one out in the top of the eighth, Audrey Jones hit a single to left field that drove in Josey Moore from second base. Moore started on second in the extra inning because of the extra innings base runner rule.
After a strike out, Jones scored on a ball hit by Lily Elmore. Elmore reached base safely due to an error.
In the bottom of the inning, the Lady Panthers started with a runner on second. They drew a walk to place runners on the first two bases. An error during the next at-bat allowed the batter to reach safely, but a runner was thrown out advancing to third.
Cumberland followed that out by loading the bases, but only managed to score one run after that. The game ended when Moore fielded a ground ball and threw to first for the final out.
Shea Bogue went the distance in the circle for the Trojanettes. She struck out seven, walked five and allowed six hits.
Bogue also led at the plate with a pair of hits. Jones, Norah Shirley, and Hadley Elkins each also had a hit.
