The Barren County High School soccer stadium has been named in honor of Larry and Geraldine Glass, and members of their family were recognized during the recent Barren County Schools Board of Education meeting.

“Tonight, we have the distinct honor of recognizing a Leave a Legacy contribution that celebrates two individuals whose lives and work have left an everlasting mark on Barren County — Larry and Geraldine Glass,” said CheyAnne Fant, director of nutrition and after-school programs for the school district. “Though they are no longer with us on the Earth, their legacy continues to the family represented here tonight.”

Fant then invited members of the Glass family to the front of the board room and they were presented with a Leave a Legacy plaque.

“Larry and Geraldine Glass simply wanted to help others and make their community a better place to live and to raise their family,” Fant continued. “Larry cared deeply about his community and was involved in politics, but he never was involved for personal gain.

“Both he and Geraldine were known for their compassion, their generosity and their belief in making the most of every moment that God gave them on this Earth.”

Fant said Larry was known for his remarkable talent in construction, and when Barren County Schools lacked funding to construct its first baseball field, he just said: “‘I’ll build it, no cost.’”

Larry went on to help save the school district over $100,000 on construction of the soccer complex project, Fant said.

“Because of their lasting impact on this community, their meaningful contributions to Barren County Schools, we are proud to honor the legacy of Larry and Geraldine tonight,” she said. “Through the Leave a Legacy program, the Barren County Soccer Stadium will bear the name Larry & Geraldine Glass Soccer Stadium for the next 30 years, ensuring that the future generations of students, athletes and families will remember the example of this remarkable couple.”
