Barren County Fiscal Court magistrates will convene in a special-called meeting at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, to hold a public hearing on the discontinuing of a county road.
The public hearing involves the discontinuance of State Quarry Road, which was adopted into the county road system in 1996, according to information provided by the county. The portion of State Quarry Road to be discontinued is approximately 0.39 miles long, located off Louisville Road and across the railroad tracks, according to the proposed resolution.
“It has been determined that State Quarry Road serves solely as an entrance to a private facility and does not function as a county roadway,” the resolution stated.
This hearing will give residents and stakeholders a chance to speak before any final decision is made on whether the county will move forward with closing the road.
Other agenda items concern routine financial actions, personnel decisions and a second reading on an amendment to the 2025-2026 budget.
As is often the case now that the fiscal court has gone to bimonthly meetings, this April 1 meeting will be short as there will be no committee or department reports.
