The Barren County Courthouse is back to normal business after the building was evacuated on Monday morning due to a bomb threat. The threat was deemed to be false, according to information provided by the Administrative Office of the Courts.
“The caller said there was a bomb in the courthouse and that drones would soon be arriving,” a court press release stated. “Law enforcement officers evacuated the courthouse and searched it for explosives. Finding none, officers deemed the facility safe for occupancy approximately an hour after the bomb call.”
Near the beginning of the 10 a.m. Barren County Circuit Court proceedings, bailiff Steve Garrison told judge John Alexander, who announced to those in the courtroom orders to evacuate in an orderly fashion.
Emergency personnel from the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, the Glasgow Police Department, the Glasgow Fire Department, Barren-Metcalfe EMS responded to the threat, and shut down the Glasgow Square for roughly an hour. The sheriff’s office led the response, according to the release.
