William Crance Cook was born September 11, 1938, in Letcher County, Kentucky. He went home on March 24, 2026, at Norton’s Pavilion Hosparus Unit in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a Christian and a member of Rowletts Baptist Church in Munfordville, Kentucky. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 8 years.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Linda Lee Sergent Cook; his sons, Billy “Pete” Cook (Leonetta) and John Cook (Melissa); along with his granddaughters, Carmen Cook (Michael) and Caitlyn Sims (Stephen); great grandchildren, Jasper and Adalynn “Ada”; siblings, Charlene Cook Risner, Drema Cook Wilson (Ricky), and Marty Dean Cook (Elizabeth); and his brothers-in-law, Delmas Martin and Robert Bates. He also leaves a host of family, friends, and previous coworkers to remember him well and mourn his passing.
He is preceded in death by his father, Martin Cook; his stepmother, Mary Bentley Cook; his mother, Mary Hazel McReynolds; his stepfather, Edgar McReynolds; his siblings, Jack Cook, Patricia Cook, Janet Cook Martin, and Melody Cook Bates.
Memorial Contributions can be made to the Appalachian Community Relief Fund and St. Jude in honor of William.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 28th, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, and Saturday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
Military honors will be provided by the Glasgow DAV Chapter #20.
