The National Weather Service has issued a freeze watch for Barren County, warning that temperatures may fall well below freezing late Friday night into Saturday morning.
The freeze watch begins at 11 p.m. on Friday, March 27, and continues until 9 a.m. on March 28, according to the National Weather Service, which stated that temperatures as low as 26 degrees are possible during that time. A freeze warning is issued when significant, widespread freezing temperatures are expected and “when it is late enough to cause damage to new plants and crops,” according to the weather service.
“Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” according to the weather service.
Gardeners, farmers and homeowners could all see impacts if they do not prepare ahead of the cold snap.
