Barren County played its first home baseball game of the season Friday, and fell to Russell County, 4-2.
The Trojans took the early lead in the game with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Jax Vincent drew a walk to lead off, then scored on a sacrifice fly by Gavin Coffey.
The Lakers responded with three runs in the top of the second inning and led the rest of the way.
Russell County added another run in the top of the fifth, before Barren scored a run in the bottom of that inning.
Vincent also led off the bottom of the fifth with a walk. He scored on a single by Coffey.
The Trojans posted seven hits in the game, and drew six walks, but couldn’t take full advantage of those base runners.
Cameron Crawford led with two hits, while Colten Wilson and Price Thompson each hit doubles. Vincent, Coffey and Bracy Faught each also had a hit.
Skylar Potter pitched five innings for the Trojans. He allowed five hits, struck out five and walked two. Cash McGuire closed the final two innings, allowed no hits and struck out two.
The Trojans return to action Tuesday at home against Franklin-Simpson at 5:30 pm
