John David Cornett,90 of Edmonton, KY, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Born on December 14, 1935, in Marion, VA, he was the son of the late John Cornett and Nellie South Cornett. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Harold Cornett.
Throughout his life, John nurtured a profound connection to tractors and Thoroughbred horse racing—interests that brought him joy and shaped many of his most treasured moments. His enthusiasm for these pursuits exemplified his love for tradition and hard work.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lynn Cornett of Edmonton, four children, Westley (Elise) Cornett of OK, David Cornett of IN, John Jason Cornett of FL, and Kathy Martin of IN, and grandchildren Veruca Cornett Pullen, Amanda Cornett Canton, and Jeremy Cornett.
In honor of John’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation. Butler Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted to the care of Mr. Cornett.
