Glasgow High School’s Beta Club is celebrating a standout performance at the Kentucky Senior Beta Convention, where students earned a state championship and a long list of top-five finishes across academic, artistic and performance events.
The Glasgow High Quiz Bowl Team captured the state championship, according to information provided by Beta Sponsor Blair Abner.
The school’s show choir also turned in a strong performance, placing second in the state, according to the same information.
Glasgow’s Book Battle Team finished third, and students added more team honors with a fourth-place finish in Marketing and Communications and a third-place award in 3-Dimensional Design.
Individual students also brought home their own major recognitions, including Kasan Peters, who was named state champion in 12th grade social studies and received a scholarship for that achievement. Karisan Peters also earned a state championship in the solo, duo, trio dancer category.
Rush Shannon finished second in agriculture for ninth grade, while Shaurya Chaudhary took second in ninth grade social studies. Olivia Wood placed second in Poetry Division II.
Third-place awards went to Brooks Nadile in ninth grade health and PE, Chloe Ball in Painting Division II and on-site drawing, and Greer Benefield in Division I speech. Fourth-place finishers included Nadia Bucher in ninth grade language arts, Jacob West in 10th grade science and Emaline Pike in Pottery Division I.
Rounding out the top-five results, Diya Nair took fifth in 12th grade math, Reese Chaney earned fifth in ninth grade science and Mari Clemmons placed fifth in ninth grade biomedical.
