Glasgow News 1

Barren Inc. is calling on the community to help recognize local businesses and leaders through its annual Achievement in Business Awards.

Nominations are open through Monday, March 9 for five award categories designed to highlight standout contributions to the local economy and community.

The categories include Small Business Person of the Year, the Magnolia Award for a female business or community leader, Small Business of the Year, Farmer of the Year and Administrative Professional of the Year.

Barren Inc. representative Erin Hiles said the awards are a way to celebrate and recognize the local small business community. She noted that the nomination pool typically includes a wide range of individuals and organizations who play key roles in Barren County.

This year’s awards process is structured in two main stages. A news conference is scheduled for March 26 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Western Kentucky University in Glasgow. The plan is to announce the Small Business Person of the Year and the Magnolia Award recipient at that event.

Those two honorees are expected to return in May as keynote speakers for a luncheon, where Barren Inc. plans to announce the remaining Achievement in Business Awards, including Small Business of the Year, Farmer of the Year and Administrative Professional of the Year.
