Clara Elmore, Bee Spring

Mar 2, 2026 | 8:26 AM

Clara Elmore, age 84 of Bee Spring, departed this life on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at University of Louisville Hospital. The Edmonson County native was born on October 2, 1941, to the late Noel and Ellis Carroll. Clara shared sixty-five years of marriage with her husband, H.B. “Bud” Elmore, who survives her. Their many years together reflect a lifetime of shared experiences, commitment, partnership, and enduring love.

Clara’s life was marked by devotion to her family, years of steady work, and the bonds she shared with those closest to her. She retired from Brownsville Deposit Bank after many dedicated years as a loan officer, where she was known for her professionalism and integrity. Throughout her career, she took pride in her job and the relationships she built along the way. Additionally, Clara was a longtime member of Jock United Baptist Church and remained connected to her church and community.

More than anything, Clara’s life was rooted in her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Lori Hanek (Brian) of Pittsburgh, PA; her son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Dwight McCombs and Cindy McCombs of Chalybeate; her niece and nephews, Diane Eakles, Jeff Vincent, Greg Carroll, Eric Carroll, and Lee Carroll; along with several great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members. She was also preceded in death by her precious daughter, Lisa McCombs, as well as her siblings, Lorene Vincent, Charles Carroll, Billy Carroll, and Christine Duvall.

Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
