Discover WKU in Glasgow is giving local residents a chance to explore college options close to home.
Western Kentucky University officials are inviting prospective students, families and community members to an informational event on Tuesday, March 10, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at WKU in Glasgow, 500 Hilltopper Way for an “event designed to highlight educational opportunities available in Glasgow and Barren County without requiring a move to the main campus.”
Attendees will be able to learn about 13 academic programs offered at the Glasgow campus, along with details on the admissions process, financial aid and scholarships, and student support services. Faculty and staff will be available to answer questions and help prospective students understand how WKU can support their educational and career goals.
Organizers say Discover WKU in Glasgow will include informative sessions tailored to different types of students. Those sessions are expected to focus on the needs of homeschool families, adult learners, Spanish-speaking families and incoming freshmen, with information geared toward each group.
WKU Glasgow also plans to offer the program in Spanish to help ensure Spanish-speaking families and students have full access to information.
The event is open to prospective students at various stages of their educational journey, from high school students exploring their next step to adults considering a return to the classroom. Officials say attending Discover WKU in Glasgow could help residents better understand how to start or continue their college education without leaving the local area.
Those who would like to take part are encouraged to register ahead of time so staff can plan for the number of attendees.
