Former Glasgow golfer Nina McMurtrey helped the Western Kentucky University women’s golf team to an eighth-place finish at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational in Eatonton, Georgia.
The three-day tournament wrapped Sunday, with the Lady Toppers steadily climbing the leaderboard in each round. WKU posted a team score of 298 in the final round, closing the event at 904 for the tournament. The team improved its position on the leaderboard Saturday and again Sunday.
McMurtrey finished the week with a three-round total of 238, tying for 65th. The WKU senior shot rounds of 81, 73 and 84 in her appearance at the Georgia event. The top performer for the Lady Toppers was junior Sydney Hackett, who recorded an even-par 72 in the final round to finish at 218. That score was good for seventh individually and marked her 15th career Top-10 finish at WKU.
