Barren County outscored Russell County, 75-72, in Russell Springs on Thursday night to close out the regular season schedule.
The Trojans jumped ahead 17-8 in the first quarter. From there, they managed to stay ahead to win their second of three close games this week.
Barren jumped ahead 17-8 in the first quarter. Both teams caught fire offensively in the second period, and Barren led 41-33 at halftime.
The host Lakers posted a 19-15 edge in the third period. That left the Trojans up 56-52 headed into the fourth quarter.
Maddox Griggs led Barren with 21 points, while Weston Shelton added 13, Gavin Nunn posted 12 points, and Kade Hardy and Jaxson Byrd each finished with 10.
The Trojans open the 15th District Tournament at Glasgow on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 6 p.m.
