Piper Lindsey named 4th Region Coach of the Year; Byrd, Slagle name all-region

Barren County coach Piper Lindsey has been voted the girls basketball coach of the year by the 4th Region Basketball Coaches Association.

The Barren County graduate in her 11th season at her alma mater has led the Trojanettes to a 27-2 record. Barren opens the 15th District Tournament on Monday at 6 p.m. at Glasgow against Glasgow.

Along with their coach, Shelby Byrd was voted to the all-region first team, while teammate Addy Slagle was voted to the third team.

Junior guard Byrd has led the Trojanettes with 18.8 points per game. She also has averaged 4.6 rebounds. Slagle, a sophomore guard, has averaged 10.2 points per game.
