Larry Turner, 79 of Center, KY passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026, at his residence. He was born January 27, 1947, in Manchester, KY to the late James and Anna Hacker Turner.
Larry’s life was marked by his service to his country as a Sergeant in the US Army from September 29, 1969, to September 2, 1971. His time in the military was foundational, shaping his character and instilling values of dedication, courage, and resilience that he carried with him throughout his life.
Beyond his military service, his hands were never idle. Larry was known for his passion of woodworking and his talent in building things. He found great joy in creating, pouring his heart into each piece he crafted, and his handiwork will be fondly remembered by those who had the privilege of enjoying it. He enjoyed the outdoors and found peace sitting at the banks of a pond, fishing. Family was at the heart of everything Larry did. He was particularly devoted to his grandchildren, finding joy in spending time with them, sharing stories, and making memories that they will hold in their hearts forever.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years Kathy Wilkerson Turner of Center, KY, four children Beth Steele of Horse Cave, KY, Billy (Emily) Wisby of Cincinnati, OH, Lori (Kelly) Hansel of Hamilton, OH and Michelle (Denny) Deaton of Hamilton, OH, grandchildren Ryan Steele, Katie (Nick) Phipps, Ethan Steele, Chloe Stockton, Jericho Benhase, Anna Benhase, Matt Deaton and Jake Deaton, one brother Luke (Terri) Turner of TN, and sister Lana Philpot of Hamilton, OH. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Larry Turner will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with cremation to follow. Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM on Saturday here at the funeral home.
