The Cave City Council will convene for a special session on Monday, February 16, at 5 p.m. at City Hall. This meeting, open to the public, will focus primarily on reviewing the city’s February tourism tax collections and various new business items.
According to the meeting agenda, Cave City collected $85,073.51 in restaurant tax and $11,582.85 in transient room tax for February. These funds, amounting to a total of $96,656.36, will be transferred to the Tourism Commission to support various city initiatives. Financial reports, including a cash analysis with balances of $14,324 in the police department’s savings and $61,345 in the fire department’s checking account, are also set for review.
The council plans to address several new business items. An audit of the fiscal year 2024–25 will be conducted by Paul Barber of Green River CPA. Discussions on rezoning and annexation and a presentation from Ron Lafferty of the local drug task force are on the agenda. Citizens will hear from Greg Hogan, and council members will consider amendments to the city’s noise ordinance as outlined in Ordinance No. 26-16-2.
Department representatives, including Fire Chief Kevin Jandt, Police Chief Paul Reynolds, and Code Enforcement Officer Karisa Waddle, will provide activity reports, followed by committee and mayoral reports.
