Gavin Nunn hit a free throw with about six seconds left Tuesday that proved to be the difference in a 51-50 win for Barren County at Franklin-Simpson.
Nunn missed the second free throw, but the Trojans used their fouls to give to cut down the clock on the Wildcats. That led to an inbounds pass that was deflected by Carson Browning into the hands of Kade Hardy. He dribbled out the clock to close the victory.
Barren jumped ahead 17-10 in the first quarter, but Franklin-Simpson rallied in the second with an 18-9 advantage to lead 28-26 at the break.
The Trojans led 41-40 after three quarters.
The win lifted Barren’s record to 13-9 overall. The Trojans host Ohio County for a boys’ only game Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Hardy led Barren with 14 points, while Jaxson Byrd added 11 and Weston Shelton finished with 10.
