Drivers will now be able to cross the Skaggs Creek bridge on Oil Well Road.
The Barren County government announced that the crossing is back open after it was closed due to weather-related damage to the bridge approaches, Emergency Management Garland Gilliam told Glasgow News 1 previously.
At the November 2025 county’s transportation committee meeting, members recommended a $204,000 repair bid submitted by Bluegrass and Associates. Gilliam told Glasgow News 1 at the time that the money was coming from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to replace the blacktop with concrete.
“It was asphalt before [and] this time we’re putting them back in concrete,” County Road Department Supervisor Jamie DeGroft said at a January 2026 transportation committee meeting.
The replacement will hopefully decrease the frequency of closure, Gilliam said.
Oil Well Road is south of Glasgow and connects Pritchardsville Road with Austin Tracy Road.
