Cynthia Austin has leaped into her college career as a freshman at Georgetown College.
The former Glasgow Lady Scottie athlete picked up three Top 10 finishes in her first collegiate indoor meet. Austin won the triple jump with a lead of 9.74 meters. That distance is second-best in school history. She was also eighth in the long jump with a distance of 4.63 meters, which was fourth-best all-time at Georgetown. She wrapped the Friday Night Spikes meet with ninth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.09 seconds.
Two weeks after that meet, Austin competed in the Joe Banks Invitational in Ohio. She placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 9.69 meters, and she was twelfth in the long jump with a distance of 4.5 meters.
The Georgetown track and field team is scheduled to compete in the Marshall Jewel Invite beginning Friday at Marshall University.
