Glasgow and Barren County may be thawing out, but road conditions are still hazardous in certain parts of the county. In light of that, Caverna, Barren County and Glasgow schools have opted to forgo in-person classes on Thursday.
All three school districts will be using a Non-Traditional Instruction day on Jan. 29. Non-Traditional Instruction days — first introduced in 2011 and expanded in 2020 — count as instructional days and therefore do not need to be made up by the district later in the academic year. The Commissioner of Education can approve “up to 10 NTI days to count towards student attendance days in the school districts’ calendars.”
Caverna Independent Schools will use NTI day #6, and Barren County Schools and Glasgow Independent Schools will use NTI day #3 on Jan. 29.
Students have work to complete on NTI days.
