Barren County sheriff’s deputies responded to over 40 service calls related to the hazardous wintry weather that beset Barren County during the last full weekend of January.
Out in the county, sheriff’s deputies had 44 calls directly related to the weather, according to Adam Bow, Barren County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer.
Nine calls were for sheriff escorts, 15 were for driver assists, two dealt with abandoned vehicles, two involved downed trees, another two calls were due to downed utility lines, one due to debris in the road, seven were welfare checks — which Bow said was increasing as people deal with prolonged power outages — and six vehicle crashes.
The six wrecks were non-injury, according to Bow.
