Barren River Lake State Resort Park has been removed as a warming station, according to information from the Kentucky State Parks and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear.
During his Jan. 26 winter storm update,, Beshear said several people were evacuated from the state park, which had lost power over the weekend. Barren River Lake State Resort Park is listed as a previous warming station, according to Kentucky State Parks.
“If power is restored, the park will open as a warming station for those in need,” said Anita Hatchett, executive director with the Kentucky tourism cabinet.
In Beshear’s winter storm update on Jan. 27 the resort was still not included in warming station locations.
On Jan. 26, the state park confirmed they had been removed as a warming station due to a loss of power.
The park is located in southern Barren County.
