Weather conditions are expected to worsen throughout the day and into the night, according to District 3 of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Snow and ice operations continue as a winter storm moves through the area bringing “several inches of snow” and ice, according to the district. The freezing rain that fell overnight worsened conditions, the cabinet stated.

“Most roadways remain snow-covered, with icy conditions forming,” the district stated. “Travel should be avoided due to hazardous road conditions.”

Crews remain focused on Priority A routes, which consist mainly of interstates, expressways and U.S. routes. Some progress is being made on some of these routes, but conditions are expected to worsen throughout the day into tonight, according to the District.

District 3 serves Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson, Todd, and Warren counties.
