Glasgow held off Barren County on Friday night, 54-44, to improve to 5-0 in 15th District action and 11-8 overall. Barren fell to 2-2 in district action and 10-9 overall.
The Trojans scored first in the game on a layup by Kade Hardy. The Scotties scored the next 10 points in the game and did not trail again. Glasgow led, 12-5, at the end of the first quarter.
Barren opened the second quarter on a 6-0 run to get to within 1, 12-11, with two minutes gone in the period. Jaylen Bradley broke the run with a steal, and he was fouled at the other end. He made one of two free throws, but that was good enough to spark an 8-0 run for the Scotties.
Glasgow led 25-17 at halftime.
The Scotties led by as many as 11 points in the third quarter — 35-24 — but the Trojans closed the period on a run. The Glasgow lead was 37-29 after three.
Barren opened the fourth quarter on a 4-0 run to get to within four points, 37-33. From there, through, Glasgow was able to put together a couple of runs to hold on for the 7-point win.
Bradley led the Scotties with 17 points, while Jerrick Martin added 12.
Hardy led the Trojans with 18 points, while Gavin Nunn added 11.
Barren County is scheduled to play at Allen County-Scottsville on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in a 15th District contest.
Glasgow is scheduled to play at Metcalfe County on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
