A Glasgow man charged with murder has a bond modification hearing Monday, Jan. 26, in Hart County Circuit Court.

Cory Tyler Bowles, 31, of Glasgow has been charged with murder in connection with a crash on Interstate 65 in Hart County on May 30, 2025. Bowles was initially arrested on July 9, 2025, and charged with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, and fourth-degree assault, according to Kentucky State Police.

Bowles was arrested on an indictment warrant on Jan. 6, 2026, that amended the first-degree assault charge to a murder charge. Bowles was released from jail on the initial charges on a $50,000 bond in July. The murder charge and rearrest brought with it a $500,000 bond, according to court documents.

Bowles’ attorney, Alan Simpson, filed a motion to reinstate the previous bond. Bowles was arraigned on the murder charge on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

All of the charges Bowles faces come after a crash in late-May that resulted in multiple people being injured, and the death of a child.

Bowles was driving southbound on Interstate 65 in a 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander when his vehicle veered off the road and struck a 2014 Ford Focus driven by Dru Smith, 23, of Glasgow, according to an investigation by state police.

Cory Bowles, his then wife Mindy, and a juvenile male passenger in his vehicle were take to T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. Cory Bowles was later flown to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment of their injuries, according to state police.

A juvenile female passenger in Cory Bowles’ Outlander was flown to Norton Children’s Hospital. She died there on July 5, 2025.

Smith was flown from the scene to University of Louisville Hospital.

State police were called to the collision just before 7 p.m. on May 30.
