Angela Goodman was recognized during the recent Barren County Schools Board of Education meeting at the district’s central office.
Goodman, a fifth-grade literacy and social studies teacher at Park City Elementary, was named the Certified Employee of the Month for her skill and knowledge mastery.
“Angela consistently provides rich learning experiences that promote both content mastery and critical thinking,” Park City Elementary Principal Brian Clifford said during the board meeting. “Her students are not only learning what to think, but how to think.”
Clifford said Goodman teaches her students to analyze texts, make connections and ask meaningful questions while “applying their learning in thoughtful and engaging ways.”
“These intentional instructional practices create a classroom where curiosity thrives and students are empowered to take ownership of their learning,” the principal said, adding that the fifth-grade teacher “goes above and beyond the classroom.”
Goodman serves on the school’s site-based decision-making council, is an active member of Park City’s instructional leadership team, coaches the academic team and volunteers as a little league basketball coach.
“She holds her students to high expectations while providing the encouragement and support that they need to succeed,” Clifford said. “Always willing to stretch herself professionally, Angela embraces innovative teaching approaches and continuous learning.”
Clifford said even though Goodman is an intermediate literacy teacher, she pursued additional certifications to help her teach foundational literacy skills with her students.
“As a result of her dedication, her students have shown tremendous growth from fall to spring,” the principal said. “Positive, driven, dedicated and encouraging, Angela Goodman is a powerful example of excellence at Park City.”
