There were fewer death investigations conducted by the Barren County Coroner’s office in 2025 compared to the previous three years, but the number was in a normal range for the office.

There were 155 death investigations performed by the Barren County Coroner’s Office in 2025, according to the information provided by county coroner Tim Gibson. That total is “pretty normal,” according to Gibson, who said his office performed 160 investigations in 2024, 169 in 2023 and 180 in 2022.

Seven of those 155 deaths were attributed to overdose by the coroner’s office, which is the same amount reported by the coroner’s office in 2024, and one less than the eight that occurred in 2023 and 2022.

There were two homicides in 2025, according to Gibson’s information. There was one reported in September and one was in December. In 2024, 2023 and in 2022 there was one reported homicide each year, according to Gibson.

Natural causes accounted for 126 deaths in 2025.

Aside from its office functions, 2025 was a “historic” year as the Barren County Coroner received their first office in “the 224 years of the coroner’s existence in Barren County,” Gibson said at the time. The office is located at 308 S. Franklin St. in Glasgow.
