Speculative buildings aren’t in the plans for the available lots at the South Cooper Industrial Park in Glasgow.
Barren County Economic Authority President and Chief Executive Officer Maureen Carpenter told Glasgow News 1 that right now lots 2 and 6 are being marketed as “pad ready sites.” There are no plans for the authority to build speculative buildings, like the ones that were built on lots 1 and 7.
Lots 2 and 6 were graded, meaning leveled, by Scotty’s Contracting and Stone for roughly $1.5 million. The two lots were completed in August 2025.
During the Jan. 9 Barren County Economic Authority meeting, Carpenter said there was interest in the two lots, but did not provide further details.
Bluegrass Ingredients purchased lot 7 and its 100,000 square foot speculative building in September 2025 and Union Coating and Chemical Industries will move into the 50,000 square foot speculative building located in the park.
The industrial park also includes an internal road — Beltline Boulevard — that the city of Glasgow is poised to take over the maintenance of as the ordinance will have a second reading during the Glasgow City Council meeting on Jan. 12.
