A Glasgow man originally charged with murder pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in Barren County Circuit Court on Jan. 9.

Dedontae Morrison was arrested by police in March 2024 in connection with the murder of 55-year-old Robert Fields on Lee Fendell Road. Following mediation, which included two of Fields’ sisters and his daughter, Morrison pleaded guilty to the amended charge of first-degree manslaughter and one count of tampering with physical evidence, according to Morrison’s court file.

Morrison received a sentence of 15 years and $1,000 in fines and costs, according to the plea. Due to the violent nature of the crime, Morrison will be required to serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole, according to the plea. In this case Morrison would be required to serve a little over 12 years before being parole eligible.

His sentencing will be Feb. 5 at 9 a.m. He will remain in custody until that time, according to the guilty plea.
