RECAP: Colonels punch ticket to regional All ‘A’ final

Caverna rolled into the Fifth Region All “A” Tournament title game with a pair of decisive wins. The Colonels opened at Fort Knox on Monday with an 83-31 route of the Eagles. On Wednesday, they rolled over Washington County, 81-56.

Caverna faces Campbellsville at 7 p.m. central time Friday at Bardstown Bethlehem in the championship.

Against Fort Knox, Gavin Lightning played in his first game of the season after being ruled eligible by the Kentucky High School Athletics Association earlier in the day. Lightning responded with 29 points to lead the Colonels.

Caverna led 33-3 at the end of the first quarter, and 59-12 by halftime.

On Wednesday against the Commanders at Bethlehem, Cortavian Maxey led the way for the Colonels with 24 points.

Caverna was dominant again in the first half. The lead was 23-12 at the end of the first quarter, and 48-29 by halftime. After three quarters, the Colonels pushed their lead to 66-44.
