Members of the Barren County Schools Board of Education are set to vote on the sale of property during their regular monthly meeting Thursday, Jan. 8, at the district’s central office, according to the agenda.
As previously reported by Glasgow News 1, the property would be sold to the state of Kentucky and be used by the transportation cabinet for construction to improve Ky. 1297 from Donnelly Drive to U.S. 31-E — and Donnelly Drive from Ky. 1297 to U.S. 68, as discussed during the school board’s October meeting.
“The district was approached by the Commonwealth of Kentucky on behalf of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Department of Highway,” Finance Director Joe Murley said during his report to the board in October. “It’s potentially selling approximately .17 acres of property at Red Cross.”
In other business on Thursday, the board will recognize several educators and individuals before electing a chairman and vice chairman, according to the agenda.
The board may also approve the summary of payments for various projects across the district, have a second reading of the 2026-27 school calendar, and approve requests to bid waste removal, hay cutting and employee physicals, among other district services.
