The Barren County Trojans tackled one of the top teams in the Fifth Region on Saturday, and fell short, 89-74.
The Trojans played close at Adair County for much of the game, but couldn’t slow down the Indians’ explosive offense.
Barren trailed 21-18 at the end of the first quarter, and 43-33 by halftime. The Trojans closed to within a point, 33-32, with a Weston Shelton free throw with 2:52 left in the second quarter.
Adair responded with a 10-1 run to close out the half.
The Indians outscored the Trojans 24-19 in the third quarter to push their lead to 15 points, 67-52.
Shelton and Cameron Pippen each scored 20 to lead Barren, and Carson Browning added 12 points.
Barren County returns to action Tuesday night with a game at Fourth Region powerhouse Warren Central. Tip time is set for 7:30.
